“She was a force to reckon with” – DJ Cuppy heartbroken as she loses maternal grandmother

It is a tough time for DJ Cuppy and the entire Otedola father as they lose their maternal grandmother, Mrs Celicia Abosede Atta.

The deceased, fondly known as Grandma Kaduna by her grandchildren, was the mother of billionaire Femi Otedola’s wife and was aged 90 years. Sharing the heartbreaking news on her Instagram story, Cuppy prayed for her soul to rest in peace as she noted how her grandmother was the one who shaped her mother, who in turn made her who she is today.

Cuppy stated that her grandmother was a force to be reckoned with and had lived a life. The disc jockey stated that she was praying for her own during the sudden season of change. The Oxford graduate stated that despite her death, her grandmother’s spirit still lives on, guiding and comforting them.

“Grandma Kaduna

1933 – 2024.

May your soul rest in perfect peace.

I knew my Grandma was in heaven, looking down on us with love. What a life she lived, a force to reckon with! I’m grateful for how she shaped my mother, who, in turn, made me who I am today. I am praying for my very own during this sudden season of change, but as we know. Our God is good all the time!

Grandma Kaduna, your spirit lives on, guiding and comforting us.

With love, Ife”.

There is no doubt that Cuppy would miss her grandmother as she was close to her. Recall that after her failed engagement to British boxer Ryan Taylor, Cuppy had leaned on her family.

Early this year, she revealed her conversation with her grandmother, which changed her mindset about relationships. The billionaire heiress disclosed that she will still be giving love another chance thanks to her grandmother, who shared a special childhood story about her, which reminded her how much of a heart she had and still has and how she will always be a lover girl.

Last year, Cuppy penned a powerful piece of advice to her fans after visiting her grandmother. The beautiful Cuppy revealed that visiting her grandmother reminded her of the importance of honouring the previous generations. She also advised her followers to show respect and appreciation to the elders because it is a bridge that transports one to the future.

When her grandmother turned 90 last year, Cuppy had performed at her birthday party in their hometown, Epe. Taking to her Instagram page to share a snippet of the event, Cuppy noted it was an honour to perform at her grandmother’s 90th birthday. She said she was reluctant to perform when requested but was happy she did because life can be so short.
